National Times offers nothing new - mUmBRELLA

I just read that, but I thought “Who are they going to get to write instead?” Of course it will be Fairfax writers and politicians. Granted, a lot of the pieces on NTAU can be found on Age/SMH as well, but if it means one place where all the content iseasily found, sweet.

Also, if it can inspire some journalists and readers to take a further interest in news outside of Kanye West and whatever the fuck happened at the VMA’s, awesome. I’m all for it.

The Punch Vs. NTAU isn’t going to kill journalism, and if it means some articles (good and bad, it doesn’t actually matter) are being re-hashed across multiple sites? So be it.

I guess what bothers me most about it is what bothers me about journalism in general these days: how two or three news providers have a monopoloy on the information regular people have access to. All of Australia’s prominent and ‘dependable’ media is owned by basically two people… It’s kind of horrifying, no? Not even a little local rag like the Canberra Times in independant anymore.
