Now that the New Moon soundtrack has been leaked, officially released, and reviewed, hype has already begun for Eclipse, the next film in the Twilight saga. No talk of the soundtrack yet, thank god, but the musical world will likely take notice of a cameo by a certain Godfather of Goth in the upcoming vampire teen drama.

“[Bauhaus’ Peter Murphy] plays a vampire in a flashback sequence,” Twilight actor Billy Burke revealed to MTV. “I didn’t get to see any of it, but all reports from the director David Slade, and everyone around say he just kicked ass.”

Murphy, who plays “an old Spanish, sort of unrelated vampire” in the flashback, joined Trent Reznor onstage recently for a stop on Nine Inch Nails’ “Wave Goodbye” tour in NYC. Perhaps now that Trent has some free time on his hands, his former collaborator will pull him into the film franchise. I mean, Trent is already dabbling in television work.

Apparently nothing is sacred anymore.

We were going down the Clyde towards the coast. I was driving; so fast that the trees whipped by in a blur. My passenger was nervously gripping their seat, knuckles turned white. I pressed on the accelerator and we hurtled around and down steep hairpin corners. I kept going faster and faster, and my passenger was getting more and more agitated, fearful of bursting through the roadside barriers and rolling down the side of the mountain. I was talking, but they weren’t listening. I was trying to explain why I like George Orwell so much, but instead of paying attention to me, their eyes were transfixed on the road, eyes wide with terror. If they had just listened to me, I would have slowed down. But they wouldn’t. So I didn’t.

Melbourne people,

Kate and Chrissy are going to be down from Canberra next week (and staying with me!), so we were thinking of having a little gathering on Thursday night, the 12th (unfortunately they leave Friday). Actually, Tash and Thao and I were thinking this. I haven’t run it by Kate or Chrissy yet, but I’m sure they are into it. And even if they’re not, they’re staying at my place so they’ll do what I tell them. Anyway, a bar in the city will be the most likely venue. Thinking Sister Bella at this stage, but anyone got any better ideas feel free to express them. Maybe somewhere at little less difficult to find for those who don’t know it?

This doesn’t need to be some official Tumblr-sponsored event or anything, just thought with Kate and Chrissy down it would be a good opportunity to meet-up since there are a few of us who will be hanging out.

Seeing as I am credited as a co-mastermind of this meet-up, reblogging is in order.

On a Tumblr-appropriate level of seriousness though, anyone in Melbourne that is free on Thursday night should come!
